NowPlayingArt lets you open the LastFM or Freebase page for an artist by simply mousing over the album`s icon.
The main advantage offered by the NowPlayingArt extension is that it lets you find and artist or album much more faster.
Here are some key features of "NowPlayingArt":
Album Artwork:
· You can choose to see the local web album art in the NowPlayingArt Preferences panel.
· You can show artwork based on the track file name by installing Track Art Fetcher.
Artist Artwork:
· Artist artwork for the playing track is displayed according to the settings in the NowPlaying Art Preferences panel.
· You can search for artist art in standard Songbird locations and/or muzPhoto, in in any order. If you have artist art elsewhere, you can set the location(s) and search in artist folders and/or for artist files.
· You can look for web artist art when no local artist art is found or every time. The 1st 50 lastFM images are retrieved and if none are found, Freebase is queried.
Controls:
Control buttons appear on mouse over (after a delay):
· You can move through the images with the arrow, < and >, or the mouse scroll-wheel .
· The middle buttons start and stop a slide show of images, either once-through (left-hand button) or continuously (right-hand button).
· The left-most button displays the 1st image- which will be any track or album art!
Saving Art:
· Click on the `+` to save a web image.
· You can always save web album art but you can only save web artist images if you have set a directory in NowPlayingArt preferences and set NowPlayingArt to search for artist art files and/or folders.
If an art file already exists, saving will show a question mark; click it to pop up a menu with:
· tick - to overwrite the existing image (no other warnings given!),
· plus - to save as an additional image, and
· cross - to cancel the save.
Art Locations:
· Album art is saved in the same directory as the playing track using the 1st file name and extension specified in Album Art preferences.
· Artist art is saved in the first ticked location (other than `muzPhoto`) specified in NowPlayingArt preferences. The file is named with the artist`s name or, if the option to search `in sub-folders with the artist name` is checked, the file is given the 1st artist art file name and stored in a sub-folder with the artist`s name. All artist art is given the 1st artist art file extension.
Deleting Art:
· You can always delete images: click on the `-` to delete an image. If local, it will also be deleted from your computer: no other prompts or warnings!
