In several cases, an audio scene is recorded with a stereo, so-called XY microphone setup. Even small-scale, portable audio recorders nowadays contain such an XY mic configuration.
Although such a recording setup is often very practical, it may put some constraints on the resulting audio quality during mixing of the recorded content.
During mixing, the mixing engineer may reveal that the orientation of the microphones proves to be suboptimal, or that additional microphones would have been helpful.
This is where TB XYTool comes in by allowing for adjustment of the orientation of XY microphone setups, during mixing or post-processing.
XYTool allows to correct microphone orientations, as well as adding new (virtual) microphones in a multi-track setup.
