JChemPaint is a Java app for drawing 2D chemical structures like those found in most chemistry textbooks.
JChemPaint is based on the Chemistry Development Kit (cdk.sf.net). The project has been merged with CDK, go there for all up-to-date information.
JChemPaint is intended to be complementary to Jmol, a visualisation and analysis tool for 3D molecular structures, started by Dan Gezelter at Notre Dame University, initator of the Open Science Project. and, like JChemPaint, developed by an international team of opensource programmers.
Since JChemPaint is written in Java it runs on any computing platform and operating system for which a Java Virtual Machine (of version >= 2) has been implemented (like Mac OS X,Linux, Windows 95/98/NT, Solaris, AIX and others).
JChemPaint is translated into several languages: Dutch, French, German, Portuguese, Spanish and Polish.
